James qualified as a Chartered Legal executive in March 2022.

He specialises in resolving a wide range of commercial disputes, with a particular focus on shareholder disputes, commercial disputes, fraud and asset recovery, and interim remedies. James is a specialist in providing advice on reputation management and assists clients with responding to adverse media coverage and crisis planning. He also assists content creators with advice surrounding errors and omission, pre-broadcast and publication clearance and the OFCOM Broadcast Codes.

James has an extensive knowledge of insolvency and company law, and regularly advises clients on voluntary arrangements, directors’ duties, asset protection, and the consequences of insolvency. He has experience of complex applications under the Companies Act, such as capital reductions and restoration proceedings.

  • Acting for an EFL Championship football club and its ultimate beneficial owner in an unfair prejudice petition brought by a minority shareholder.
  • Acting for the Joint Liquidators of Walsham Chalet Park Limited – in Liquidation in a successful freezing injunction application and misfeasance claim against the Company directors.
  • Acting for the Joint Administrators of a property investment company in respect of an application under s. 71 to Sch B1 of the Insolvency Act.
