On a six-month rotation, you’ll work with a range of teams and lawyers, ensuring a high level of experience, across sectors, working on complex cases, underpinned by support from us.

Vacation Scheme

We understand the importance of gaining proactive work experience and believe that it adds great value to those wishing to pursue a career in law.

The scheme has been designed to help improve your skills and legal knowledge, while giving us a chance to get to know you better. During the process, you will get to meet a range of lawyers from our trainees to our partners. You will learn about our structure of work and training, and get exposure to live cases and transactions.

You will experience what it’s like to work at Capital, and get a feel for our culture. Ensuring your experience is the right one is as vital for you as it is for us.

What can you expect?

We aim to provide participants with the opportunity to work on ‘live’ matters, whilst integrating them in the day-to-day running of the firm. You’ll be placed in one seat for the 2-week duration, in one of the following areas of law:

  • Commercial Disputes
  • Corporate & Commercial
  • Real Estate
  • Employment & Immigration

Where possible, we’ll try our best to place you in your area of preference.

You can expect the experience to be varied, informative but most importantly of value to you. You will be assigned a ‘buddy’ from within the firm, as well as a supervisor from the area of law you are placed in. In addition to the work you will be doing within the team, there will be a range of workshops, group activities, presentations, networking events giving you exposure to engage with colleagues across the firm at all levels.

What happens next?

Applications will be assessed by our Talent Team as we receive them, and if shortlisted you’ll be invited to attend a telephone interview with our Talent Coordinator.

If successful, we’ll invite you to our Assessment Centre, which takes place early February. We’ll confirm arrangements nearer the time, however you can expect to be with us for the majority of the day.

You will get to meet our current Trainees during this time and ask them any questions about the process and their experience with us.

Throughout, we’ll be looking to see how you perform under pressure, how you respond to challenging questions and situations, and how good you are at formulating an argument. We want to see that you use your initiative, are collaborative, are goal-orientated and can communicate effectively.

Who can apply?

Candidates that have either completed or are in the process of completing an undergraduate degree in any discipline. You will need to have completed your second year at university to be eligible to apply.
