Lucy leads Capital’s Litigation Finance team and has expertise in arranging litigation finance and insurance for claims she and the dispute’s team pursue. She also advises law firms, litigation funders and insurers on and prepares draft documentation for claims being pursued by other law firms.
She has a knack for numbers and is able to find ways of structuring the fee arrangement, litigation finance and insurance to suit all parties’ objectives.
Lucy regularly leads teams in complex group litigation involving financial markets and products, fraud and professional negligence.

Recent work
£19.5m claim for failed investment scheme
Successful resolution of a £19.5m claim by the liquidators arising out of a ‘Ponzi’ scheme run by the directors that defrauded 100s of individuals (many lost their pension).
Successful conclusion of a claim against the directors for fraud, wrongful trading and misfeasance As part of this claim we obtained a freezing injunction against the directors’ assets. Also, successful resolution of a professional negligence claim against the accountants and auditors who failed to detect the ‘Ponzi’ scheme being run through the company’s accounts. Negotiated litigation finance and insurance for the cost of the professional negligence claim.
Investor group action on a unregulated collective investment scheme
Arranging litigation finance, insurance and successfully pursuing a group action for over 170 claimants in a £17.5m claim for promoting, establishing and operating a UCIS in breach of FSMA, fraudulent misrepresentation and unlawful means conspiracy. As part of this claim we secured a freezing injunction against the opponents’ assets.
Investor professional negligence claim against solicitor
Arranging litigation finance, insurance and pursuing a claim against a prominent city law firm on behalf of investors in two unregulated collective investments schemes. At the time of writing this claim is ongoing.
Advising on a litigation finance deal
Hired by a city law firm and its affiliated US firm to structure their £multi-million class actions, pursued using litigation finance. Drafting documents for them which included claims management agreement, plain English document and fee agreements.
Claim against a US telecommunications company
Arranging litigation finance and insurance for and successful resolution of a £24m breach of contract claim against a large US telecoms company.
Crypto shareholder dispute
A $62m claim by former members of the senior management team of a cryptocurrency liquidity protocol for breach of contract/ promised equity.
Crypto fraud
Acting on behalf of a payment processor based in Dubai in respect of a claim by an individual who had been the victim of a cryptocurrency fraud. As part of its claim the individual obtained a worldwide freezing order and an order for disclosure.
Professional negligence claim against auditor and accountant
Acting for an Administrator in the successful resolution of a £82m professional negligence claim against an accountant and auditor that failed to detect a ‘Ponzi’ scheme being run through the company’s accounts. Negotiating litigation finance and an indemnity for adverse costs.
Breach of trust claim
Arranging litigation finance, insurance and acting for a trustee to pursue a £7m breach of trust claim affecting over 300 of its beneficiaries who invested their SIPPs in a fractional ownership of a hotel in the Caribbean.
Successful Court of Appeal claim for Junior Doctors
Successful outcome at the Court of Appeal in a claim supported by the British Medical Association for interpretation of the national employment contract for junior doctors. The successful outcome of this appeal had national significance for junior doctors in the NHS and enabled them to reclaim unpaid salary of £multi-millions and ensured that the NHS trusts adhered to contractual terms put in place to safe guard patient and doctor safety.
Regulatory Obligations Pension Trust
Successfully defended a Pension Trustee in a claim for alleged breach of the FCA Handbook. The claim was successfully struck out at an early hearing.

Successfully defended a claim for payment of a £multi-million loan made in breach of the general prohibition in FSMA.
