Capital Law shortlisted for Regional Legal Adviser of the Year at the Private Equity Awards 2022

Capital Law has been shortlisted for the prestigious Real Deals Private Equity awards 2022, in the ‘Regional Legal Adviser of the Year’ category.

The Real Deals Private Equity awards are the longest running private equity awards in Europe, and recognise the best in private equity in the continent. The regional legal adviser category focuses on growth of market share, deals advised on, and overall growth of the team and their strategy throughout 2021.

Capital Law’s nomination recognises the private equity expertise of its corporate team – one of the largest in Wales and operating far beyond. According to Experian, the team was the most active deal adviser in Wales for 2021. It also features in the UK’s top 50, for the second year in a row.

Renowned for its expertise in lower mid-market private equity transactions, the team has been busy advising clients such as WestBridge Capital, RJD Partners, Burford Capital and BGF on new investments and re-financings, as well as supporting multiple companies and management teams taking on private equity. It also acted for both buyers and sellers on acquisitions by private equity backed investee companies, and advised the Development Bank of Wales on eight deals.

From its Cardiff, London, and Paris offices, Capital is committed to growing the volume, value, and international scope of its private equity work. To support its ambitious plans, the team has recently made key appointments – with James Butters joining as partner from Clifford Chance, Sarah Hale joining as associate from Debevoise & Plimpton, and three new solicitors joining.

Tom Kelleher, partner and head of the Corporate team at Capital Law, said:

Despite all of the continued uncertainty caused by the pandemic, the private equity market has been busier than ever and our activity in 2021 reflects this. We have some fantastic private equity clients who were extremely active throughout 2021 and who we look forward to working alongside in 2022 and beyond. As the Capital Law private equity practice continues to grow, so does the volume, and size, of the deals on which we support clients and we are delighted to have been shortlisted again for this award.
