Insolvency Senior Associate – Commercial Disputes

Working within the Commercial Disputes team

Due to continued strategic growth and high client demand we are looking for an experienced insolvency litigator to join our highly regarded Disputes team in Cardiff. The work we handle is complex, diverse, and demanding. Our clients are based across the UK and internationally. We have offices in Cardiff and London. We work flexibly and team members work from home and/or from either of our offices.

You will have a passion for contentious work and your caseload will be varied. You will handle your own matters (with supervision) and assist the partners on more complex matters. You’ll also be involved in a range of business development activities. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career and reputation as part of a growing insolvency team.

You’ll need:

  • minimum 5 years PQE within a reputable insolvency/litigation team,
  • experience of handling a range of contentious insolvency related matters (preferably with experience of acting for IPs (administrators/liquidators), creditors and owners of insolvent/potentially insolvent businesses)
  • excellent knowledge and understanding of insolvency related legislation and recent case law.
  • the drive and enthusiasm to build upon existing and develop new relationships with insolvency practitioners throughout the UK.
  • excellent written and oral communication skills, clear written presentation, strong organisational skills, good time management, good initiative, and problem-solving ability
  • the experience, confidence, and initiative to take responsibility for handling your own cases and discreet parts of larger cases with minimal supervision.
  • technically competent and commercially aware
  • team-focused with a flexible and collaborative approach to working with others, but also able to work alone.
  • a strong client focused approach with plenty of drive and enthusiasm to help us to provide an excellent client service.

You will be able to:

  • work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, tackle tough decisions, and present innovative ways to help clients.
  • adhere to internal procedures and systems of Capital including file / case management, time recording, WIP management.
  • keep up to date with law and practice as part of continuing professional development (CPD)
  • maintain high standards of professional conduct while generating required practice income.
  • ensuring that the fees earned sufficiently exceed total costs and expenses incurred.
