We are a firm of international lawyers and consultants, based in Cardiff, with offices in London and Paris. We recruit excellent lawyers who provide practical legal advice.
Our clients largely comprise of corporate clients, but we also advise on financial institutions and other lenders such as private equity funds and investors. We advise on a diverse range of debt financing work and in doing so we work closely with other specialist lawyers within Capital.

Working within the Debt Finance team
We are one of the largest debt finance teams based in Wales, and working with us, you can expect a challenging but rewarding career, working alongside senior teams of major businesses, with help and support along the way.
Our work is varied and commonly will involve the negotiation, structuring (or restructuring) and documentation of commercial loan transactions for lenders and borrowers. We advise on deals ranging in size from small business loans to credit facilities in excess of £100 million. We work as part of a cross-practice team on complex transactions such as our corporate team when acting for a private equity client. You can also expect to get experience in other more niche areas such as social housing, real estate, and development finance.
We are looking for a Banking solicitor to work on a variety of matters, including general corporate debt finance work, leveraged and acquisition finance, real estate finance and development finance as well as working on international debt finance transactions.
Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for working alongside senior lawyers providing high quality and specialist advice.
- You will handle your own banking and finance matters (with supervision) including acquisition finance, development finance, asset-based lending, and general debt finance work.
- You will advise on all aspects of law for a range of lenders including banks and private equity funds, and borrowers including public and private sector organisations.
- You will need to demonstrate that you are able to work as part of a team of partners, associates, trainees and paralegals on complex and innovative transactions for our national and international client base.
- You will work within a fast-paced, challenging environment, where you will be required to meet tight deadlines.
- You will be expected to develop existing client relationships as well as building your own contacts, client base and skills.
- You will be expected to maintain high standards of professional conduct and complying with procedures and requirements set by the SRA as well as internal compliance procedures and systems.
You’ll need:
- 2-5 years PQE with experience within a reputable banking and finance team.
- Good range of both transactional and general banking experience.
- Ability to deal with transactions from instruction through to post completion matters.
- Experience of carrying out research tasks, investigations/searches of documents.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, clear written presentation, strong organisational skills, good time management, good initiative, and problem-solving ability.
- Team-focused with a flexible and collaborative approach to working with others, but also able to work alone.
- Capable of working effectively under pressure and using own initiative to tackle tough decisions and present innovative ways to help clients.
- The successful candidate must be technically competent and commercially aware. You will have good social skills, be a team player with a strong client focused approach and have plenty of drive and enthusiasm to help us to provide an excellent client service.
- Strong clients focus with an ability and willingness to get actively involved in marketing and business development.
