Natalie is a Principal Associate in our Construction team.
Natalie is an experienced construction lawyer specialising in all aspects of construction and development projects, from initial procurement to completion. Natalie prepares and advises on the terms of all types of construction contracts, including industry standard form (JCT, NEC), bespoke contracts (e.g. development agreements and pre-construction services agreements) and ancillary documents such as appointments, collateral warranties, bonds and reliance letters.
She has extensive experience preparing and advising on call-off contracts for major frameworks, including SEWTAPS, SEWSCAP, South East Wales Highways and South Wales Demolition frameworks.
Natalie has particular expertise in building safety legislation, having advised widely on the implications of the Building Safety Acts in both Wales and England. She has advised building owners, developers, devolved government, housing associations and other publicly funded bodies on the implications of building safety legislation/regulations on their projects, including higher-risk buildings.

Fire Safety Remediation Projects
Leading a team advising on over 100 fire safety remediation projects, each requiring between £1million – £30million of works, being undertaken on higher-risk buildings through various procurement routes (inc. Building Safety Fund, Cladding Safety Scheme and Developers under the Self-Remediation Terms). Advising widely on amendments to standard form construction contracts to provide for the complex regulatory and legislative regime applying to Higher-Risk Buildings.
Housing Association Regeneration Project
Advising a Welsh Housing Association client on large regeneration projects involving heritage buildings. Advising on procurement of the project team, including Pre-Construction Services Agreement, bespoke amendments to JCT Design & Build Contract, consultant appointments and suite of collateral warranties. Providing input into internal governance reporting and advising in respect of Welsh Government funding requirements.
Welsh Framework Call-Off Contracts
Preparation of construction related call-off contracts for various significant frameworks, including SEWSCAP3 and SEWSCAP4, South East Wales Highways and SEWTAPS. Also, advising various public sector clients on the risk allocation in such call-off contracts throughout the procurement process.
Housing Association Template Suites of Construction Contracts
Acting for a number of Welsh Housing Association clients in preparing and updating their template suites of construction contracts. Including Schedules of Amendments to JCT Design & Build, Intermediate and Minor Works Building Contracts, Pre-Construction Services Agreements, consultant appointments, collateral warranties, bonds and guarantees. Providing training to the housing associations on the use of these documents and the considerations when selecting a procurement route for individual projects.
Refurbishment of tall buildings for Welsh local authority
Preparing and advising local authority on NEC4 Professional Services Contract for a multidisciplinary lead designer, and NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract for main contractor to undertake significant refurbishment work to tall residential buildings. Including advice on procurement routes in light of incoming building safety legislation and detailed advice on proposals for post-tender contract amendments.
