Emma joined our Banking and Finance team as a paralegal in June 2022, providing support to solicitors and partners on a wide range of commercial finance transactions.

Emma joined Capital Law in 2022 as a paralegal in our Banking and Finance team having spent five years at an international city firm in a similar role. She graduated with a law degree from the University of the West of England in 2015 and went on to study the LPC and a master’s degree in legal practice part-time at the University of Law Bristol. 

During her career as a banking paralegal, Emma has had the opportunity to assist a variety of lender and borrower clients on debt finance work in relation to corporate, commercial, and real estate finance transactions. She provides support to the legal team with drafting, transaction management, liaising with clients and external counsel from initial instruction right through to completion, and handles any required post-completion issues. 

  • Advised a national bank in respect of updating its suite of security and finance documentation.
  • Providing ongoing advice to a banking client’s commercial portfolio team, including assisting with partial and full redemption of loans and the release of relevant security.
  • Acting for a global logistics company in its capacity as lender in relation to a secured term loan facility for the purposes of developing and manufacturing a state-of-the-art electric powered cargo truck.
  • Acting for a private equity house in relation to the refinance of a £4.25m senior secured revolving credit facility.
  • Advising a national bank in relation to the refinance of a £1.6m secured facility and the release of equity in connection with the development of two freehold properties.
  • Advising a household name window company in relation to its new debt financing arrangements with a lender worth £6.5m for the purposes of acquisition-led strategic growth.
  • Advising two Canadian national banks in relation to the accession of a new English subsidiary to an existing facility for a Canadian banking customer.
