Let’s talk about industrial decarbonisation

After the success of the inaugural “SWIC Net Zero Week” in October 2021, the South Wales Industrial Cluster (SWIC) is holding another informative set of events at the end of March.

SWIC is a partnership between Welsh companies, academia and public sector organisations committed to a greener economy. Capital is the only law firm involved.

SWIC has been awarded £21 million by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, which has been match funded by industry, bringing a total of £40m for the development of the Cluster and Deployment plans to decarbonise heavy industry in South Wales.  The projects will carry out engineering and feasibility studies to map out the structure and developments needed to make the region NetZero by 2050.

SWIC Week 2, taking place from 29th to 31st March 2022, will consist in a series of events focused on:

  • how SWIC and Welsh plans tie in to the national “UK Cluster Plan”
  • local and regional area planning
  • the future of our gas and electricity networks
  • what has been achieved by SWIC to date
  • what happens beyond the SWIC Cluster and Deployment projects
