Capital ranks highly as Legal 500 results are published

This week, The Legal 500 – one of the leading legal directories – published its findings for this year. Capital ranked highly in the league tables.

As Chris Nott, our Senior Partner, writes in The Legal 500’s supplement, it’s an exciting and challenging time for lawyers in Wales.

There’s a lot of commercial activity in the strengthening Welsh and UK economy, with many larger firms reporting record results, while slashed state funding has created turmoil amongst the law-firms who serve the public. The legal sector is ripe for the adoption of new technologies, but will that boost the sector or take away lawyers’ jobs? Then there’s Brexit. This could become the gift that keeps on giving, as clients need lawyers’ help to grapple with the effects and the new laws that will implement it. Or it could cause the wider economy to contract and put our clients off doing deals. There’s also the question of LegalTech – and whether it’ll replace lawyers, or support and supplement them.

So, in this uncertain climate filled with risk, challenge, and opportunity, we’re pleased to have received top results from our profession’s directory, The Legal 500.

We achieved:

  • 5 Top tier spots – Corporate and Commercial – Cardiff and South Wales, IP, Commercial Litigation, Media & Entertainment and Sport
  • 8 Tier 2 spots – Commercial Property – Cardiff, Debt Recovery, Employment – Cardiff, Immigration, IT & Telecoms, Insolvency and Corporate Recovery, Professional Negligence and Public Sector
  • 2 Tier 3 spots – Banking and Finance and Construction
  • And our Professional Negligence practice was ranked for the first time.

Four of our lawyers have been ranked as leading individuals:
