Breakfast Briefing: Employment Law Update 2023/24

Employment law is arguably one of the most dynamic and fast-moving areas of law. New legislation and guidance is introduced all of the time.

It can be difficult to keep on top of all of the changes and updates. In this free online briefing, we will run you through 2023’s main updates and discuss the impact of recent changes and decisions.

We will also give you an overview of what might be on the horizon in 2024. There will be an opportunity to ask questions directly to Rebecca Mahon, Senior Associate in our Employment team, and Megan Huws, Paralegal in the team.

A round-up of the key changes to employment legislation in 2023, including the latest on the:

  • Employment Bill;
  • Workers (Predictable Terms and Conditions) Act 2023; and
  • Retained EU Law (Reform and Revocation) Bill.

Key decisions from 2023 including the latest on holiday pay and the gig economy, as well as recent case law relating to the menopause.

A quick overview of guidance published in 2023, including guidance relating to:

  • adopting four-day working weeks;
  • transgender and non-binary inclusion at work;
  • protection for those going through fertility treatment; and
  • reasonable adjustments for mental health.

Changes to legislation anticipated for 2024 such as the implementation of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) (No 2) Regulations 2023, critical race theory falling within the Equality Act, and more.
