Health and Safety Experts get Holistic

Holistic Services, the HR consultancy owned by Capital Law, has recruited two new senior consultants into its health and safety division.

Andy Phillips has been brought in to head up the business’s occupational health team. A former in-house occupational health advisor at Hounslow Council, the Financial Services Authority and NHS trusts, he will boost the team’s expertise in absence management, workplace health-related training courses and outsourced occupational health support for a range of different organisations.

Also recruited is consultant Tim Lay who joins Holistic’s safety, health and environment team. Lay has advised clients including National Grid, Total, Lloyds TSB and the Environment Agency and is an experienced process auditor and risk assessor who will work with clients to help implement and maintain safe and efficient working practices and processes. He will also develop Holistic’s specialism in assessing “human factors” – explanations as to why people behave as and make the mistakes they do.  This is a growing area of the Holistic business and intrinsic to its health, safety and quality offering.

Holistic Services director Steve Beynon said

“Clients increasingly need the kind of flexible support our consultants can give them, particularly when finances are stretched. Now that the recession has taken hold, businesses need to ensure that they don’t neglect their staff, processes and health and safety. We have recently helped a number of organisations get back on track, sort out issues that were bubbling away and to prepare for the future. It’s a busy time and our recent round of recruitment is pivotal in our expansion plans.”

Capital Law’s senior partner Christopher Nott said

“Since joining forces with Holistic, Capital Law has been able to offer a far more diverse service than that expected of a law firm. We are still specialists in advising businesses on the law, but we now have consultants who can physically go into clients’ workplaces and help change the things that aren’t working as well as they could or should.”

“There has been such positive client take-up on the combined services and we’re delighted to be able to welcome Andy and Tim and the experience they bring.”
