Cardiff and London based law firm Capital Law has recruited international lawyer Malcolm Mason.
Mason who is qualified in England and Wales and the USA joins from Eversheds. For the last twenty five years he has been based in New York, working for North American clients on their acquisitions, sales, restructures and benefit packages in Europe, as well as their domestic UK matters.
Commenting on his appointment Mason said
“I have been listening for some time to my US clients’ concerns about European employment law and HR services, particularly the cost. I am delighted to have found a commercial law firm which exceeds my expectations in terms of the calibre of its people and its ethos. I am now able, through Capital Law, to provide my US clients with international and City expertise at realistic and very reasonable charge out rates”.
“Capital Law has an international network of lawyers. Over the last 20 years, I have built a strong practice in the US and so, between us, we present a very attractive option to international businesses.”
Mason will work out of Capital Law’s London office, alongside partner Viv Du-Feu, to service Capital Law’s multi-jurisdictional work.
Du-Feu said
“Malcolm will work with our international clients, and will bring his European legal work for US companies with him. He has been immersed in the American culture and laws for a long time and is a hugely experienced, insightful and talented lawyer.”
Mason is a member of the New York bar and admitted to a number of US courts, including the United States Court of International Trade and the United States Supreme Court. He is also an experienced advocate in UK courts and tribunals where he has represented large employer clients. Between 2000 and 2001 he served as Honorary Legal Advisor to the British Consul-General in New York.
At Capital Law Mason will continue to work for US-based multinational clients including parent companies Pfizer, Inc. and Northrop Grumman Corporation, as well as advising a number of Capital Law’s clients already established in or which are looking to extend into North America. Capital Law’s commercial teams – corporate, property, litigation, insolvency and employment/HR – will deal with Mason’s American clients’ UK and EU law issues.
